Heroes Reborn Episode 3 Review – ‘Under the Mask’

Heroes Reborn Episode 3 Review – ‘Under the Mask’

Review, Television
Tai Freligh reviews episode three of Heroes Reborn, ‘Under the Mask’… It looks like we’ll be seeing all the story lines presented in the season premiere touched on in at least some manner in each episode.  Whether they ALL tie together by the end remains to be seen.  I like that they are using HRG as the lynchpin to drive the overall story, while drawing the other stories closer together over each installment. We finally see Molly Walker reunited with Noah Bennett in Midian, CO, but she refuses to let him rescue her.  Something must have happened during that time frame where he is suffering memory loss.  While at a hospital to get Quentin’s gunshot wound treated, HRG is chased by security guards for something else he did in that black hole…

Heroes Reborn Season Premiere Review – ‘Brave New World’ / ‘Odessa’

Heroes Reborn Season Premiere Review – ‘Brave New World’ / ‘Odessa’

Review, Television
Tai Freligh reviews the season premiere of Heroes Reborn… Heroes Reborn premiered last Thursday night with an ambitious and intricate double-header of “Brave New World” and “Odessa”.  It was amazing and frustrating and messy and hopeful.  There was a lot that I liked, some interesting seeds planted and some elements that just didn’t work.  New shows have to set up their world and lay down the ground rules, but Heroes Reborn has an additional responsibility- put this world into context for new viewers while keeping fans of the original show happy.  It largely succeeds, but I’m withholding total judgement until I see how the next few episodes play out.  Here are my thoughts on the two-hour premiere. Five years after Claire Bennett exposed her powers to the world and outed…

Which Versions Of The Flash Are Going To Be Appearing In Season 2?

Which Versions Of The Flash Are Going To Be Appearing In Season 2?

Listicles, Television
If you watched The CW’s hit television show The Flash last year, then you were treated to one of the best television adaptations we’ve seen of the Scarlet Speedster in years. Mind you, we watched the TV show in the 90s with John Wesley Shipp and LOVED it, but this new version is light years ahead of that. One of the things the executive producers of the show like to do is toss out Easter eggs to the fans of the DC universe. In the first season alone, we saw the casting Shipp as Barry Allen’s father, as a direct nod in the finale to the very first version of The Flash from the comics. Hardcore fans will know that there have been a few different versions of The Flash over…

Heroes Is Reborn And Cooler Than Ever

Heroes Is Reborn And Cooler Than Ever

Review, Television
Tai Freligh looks forward to the return of Heroes with Heroes Reborn… When Heroes went off the air abruptly in 2010 after four amazing seasons, we were all left hanging. People with special abilities had been revealed to the world, but we would never find out what happened to them. After five years of silence, it was announced that a special 13 episode mini-series would pick up the story of Heroes appropriately enough, five years after the events of season four’s finale. A teaser trailer was shown to thunderous applause at Comic-Con this year along with a panel of guests, including Tim Kring and several actors from the original show along with new actors for Heroes Reborn. A whole series of marketing tools are being released, including a mobile app…

9 Ways That Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns Influenced Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

9 Ways That Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns Influenced Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Listicles, Movies
Director Zack Snyder has outright stated that Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is heavily influenced by what Frank Miller did with his graphic novel series, especially The Dark Knight Returns, where an older, more grizzled versions of Superman and Batman fight each other. When Snyder announced the film two years ago at Comic-Con, he quoted directly from the novel, sending the crowd into a frenzy. If you’re familiar with the novels, then you will appreciate the various nods seen in the trailers and images released so far, including Batman’s costume and a single shot that pays homage to the cover of The Dark Knight Returns. For those that aren’t too familiar with the source material though, here are nine ways in which Miller’s work has influenced Batman V Superman: Dawn…

5 Reasons That Deadpool Might Just Revive Ryan Reynolds’ Career

5 Reasons That Deadpool Might Just Revive Ryan Reynolds’ Career

Listicles, Movies
Could the new R-rated Deadpool be the redemption of Ryan Reynolds? After starring in 2011’s critically lambasted Green Lantern movie and portraying a very much PG-13 version of Wade Wilson and later Weapon XI in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Reynolds looks poised to break out of his superhero funk and bring life back to his career with this iteration of Deadpool. The first trailer for the film, which you can see above, was shown exclusively to audiences at this year’s Comic-Con and was very well received. Last night, it finally appeared online and the reception has been over the top positive, signalling a possible resurgence for Ryan Reynolds. Here, then, are five ways that the new Deadpool movie could bring life back to Reynolds’ comic-book career and put him back on the A-list…
