Entertainment Musings 5/8/17, including FCBD and Dark Tower reax

It was a busy week for the website last week, including reaction to some new trailers that dropped and a few reviews of advance copies of Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) comics, one of my favourite times of year! I gave top marks to the Guardians of the Galaxy/The Defenders double-header, good scores for the nostalgic trip down memory lane for Underdog, and then poor grades on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Plants versus Zombies double-header. On the trailer front, we had an interesting one for The Dark Tower, based on Stephen King's novels.  I'm pretty torn on this one as the series of 8 books is my favourite from King and I have been waiting a long time to see a movie made out of them.  I think the casting…

Entertainment News for 5/1/17, including Kingsman: The Golden Circle Reax

It was a quiet week for the blog as I only added one story to the website- a reaction piece to the new trailer that dropped for the sequel to the original Kingsman movie.  Kingsman: The Golden Circle looks to kick the action and intrigue up a notch as the team is attacked, their mansion blown up and an appearance at the end by a character thought to be dead from the first movie.  All in all, it looks to continue the fun and stylish visual feast of the first movie, with slo-mo fight scenes and lots of nods to the original James Bond movies with hot women, fast cars and fancy gadgets.  I'm really looking forward to it. I downloaded all the software and set my computer camera up…

Entertainment News 4/24/17, including Henry Cavill on the set of #MI6

It's a slow news week over here at taifreligh.com.  Director Chris McQuarrie shared a photo of Henry Cavill and Tom Cruise from the set of Mission: Impossible 6, currently filming in Paris.  It was the first photo of the two of them together on set since production started. I added a bunch more old articles to the website and am almost done adding all my previous articles from Flickering Myth.  I have already put everything from Batman News and We Got This Covered up, but I have been prolific at FM! I also started a YouTube channel and will be posting videos here and there.  I'm not really sure what I'll be doing, but I have had this strong urge to do something with video for a few weeks now…

Entertainment News for 4/17/17, including Thor and Star Wars

Last week was a great week for trailer drops!  Earlier in the week we got a new Thor: Ragnarok trailer that was lighter and more colorful in tone, much like a Guardians of the Galaxy kind of trailer.  Cate Blanchett looked great as the villain and we got glimpses of Jeff Goldblum's character and a Thor versus Hulk battle at the end, featuring a classic line of dialogue that will become an instant classic. During the Star Wars Celebration, a new trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi was dropped and it was darker in tone while still featuring all the classic Star Wars trailer bits.  It looks to be a very interesting chapter in the saga, especially with Luke Skywalker's last line of dialogue at the close of the…

Entertainment News 4/10/17, including Transformers and Superman

Just a few new posts this week in the entertainment world.  Justice League director Zack Snyder shared a photo he took of Henry Cavill from his first Man of Steel screen test in 2011 last week.  In it, Henry can be seen wearing the classic Christopher Reeve spandex suit.  I wrote a post about it, including Snyder's comments when he shared the photo on his Vero account. My one-on-one camera interviews with stars from the upcoming Transformers: The Last Knight movie are now up and live.  I chatted with Isabela Moner about her Rising Star award from Cinemacon as well as her roles in the Transformers and Soldado movies and asked some fun speed round questions.  I also talked to Jerrod Carmichael about his comedy career, roles in the Transformers movie…

Entertainment News 4/3/17

Happy Monday!  I'm still tinkering with this weekly blog and have decided to rename it to better reflect the content.  So, goodbye "Monday Musings" and hello to "Entertainment News".  Let me know what you think of the name change. My exclusive interview with Tommy Malloy went up last week.  He's a writer, actor, comedian and jack-of-all-trades currently starring in two movies- Fair Haven and #Screamers.  I chatted with him about his career so far, where he gets his energy from and asked him some fun speed round questions.  You can check the interview out here. On Wednesday last week I spent the day in Los Angeles for the Transformers: The Last Knight press junket.  I previewed some footage from the movie in IMAX and wrote up an extensive footage description…

Monday Musings 3/27/17

So, last week was packed full of Justice League news.  We had short video teasers and character posters for all the major members of the team, including Aquaman, Batman, Cyborg, The Flash, and Wonder Woman, but minus Superman.  Now, this is not surprising, given that he died in the end of Batman V Superman, but we know he's in the movie and we know he comes back, we just don't know how.  Henry Cavill's Man of Steel was featured in the first team poster, but hasn't been seen since.  Not a peep in the SDCC trailer or the new trailer.  My feeling is, they are not going to show him at all in any of the marketing or promo for the movie and I'm okay with that.  How he comes…

I watched Logan this past weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I managed to stay spoiler-free, so certain events in the movie totally wrecked me, but I thought it was a fantastic and fitting last installment for Hugh Jackman's Wolverine character.  X-23 was great and I would totally watch a spinoff movie based on that character...perhaps the next generation of mutants will be lead by her.  I highly recommend this film, especially if you are a fan of Wolverine and have felt, like me, that the last several X-Men movies featuring the character have been sub-par and you've been hoping for a really good Wolverine film. Those of you who watched Beauty and the Beast this weekend were treated to the new Wonder Woman trailer on the big screen.  I think this…
