The Flickering Myth Reaction to the final trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

The Flickering Myth team react to the final trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom…

Universal Studios Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom dropped its final trailer on Wednesday [watch it here] and the online reaction has been mixed.  What did the Flickering Myth staff think of this first look?  Read on to see how much our writers matched up with public opinion…

Ricky Church: Its definitely much better than the teaser trailer. I feel better about the movie than I did a few months ago, though I also feel like the trailer gave a bit too much away. It seems to show a lot of the creepy suspenseful moments along with what follows them, leaving few surprises for the movie along with the types of twists we can expect. It still looks fairly entertaining and exciting, though I also wonder if we really have to see yet another genetically created dinosaur as the chief “antagonist”.

Tai Freligh: I’m a lot more excited for the movie after seeing this trailer, although I do agree it gives too much away. Frankly, I don’t even remember the teaser trailer. I like the twist on the story line as you can only do the same dinosaurs on the loose plot so many times (3 or 4 movies?). There has to be a human villain this round that is behind the commercialization of scary dinosaurs. I look forward to this one. It looks like it will still have the Chris Pratt humor of previous movies while ramping up the creepy factor a bit.

Henry Bevan: I don’t understand why they need to make a velociraptor a hero — why can’t Blue just kill anything that moves? It looks as if they’ve taken the dino-on-dino ending of the Jurassic World and turned it up to 11. However, Bayona is a great director and his involvement gives me hope. He knows how to build a set piece and hopefully he’ll be able to give us some that are nearly on par with Spielberg’s work in the original.

Villordsutch: Well if the first trailer made me dislike the upcoming film, this one made me hate the upcoming Jurassic film. This reeks of lets throw as much rubbish at one wall to try and make as much noise as possible, with the faint hope that people will remember at least one cool moment. “Remember the volcano chase!? Remember the T-Rex Truck scene!? Remember the shoot out with the raptor pet in the house!? Remember the T-Rex, with laser cannons strapped to its back whilst riding the back Mosasaurus off the coast of Cornwall!?” I’ll wait for the TV airing.

Art Sri: Thanks for saving me 2 minutes 30 secs of my life.

Tom Beasley: This was the first trailer for the movie that has made me genuinely excited about it. It seems to be selling a completely different film to the previous teasers, with a plot that follows the commodification and weaponisation of dinosaurs – a logical extension of what Vincent D’Onofrio was trying to pull off in Jurassic World. The spectacle looks fun, Chris Pratt is on quippy form and I am a huge fan of JA Bayona as a director. He never fails to bring real emotion to his movies, so I’m intrigued to see that mesh with the big-budget madness of a Jurassic Park film.

George Chrysostomou: Really looking forward to this now. They have done a great job of silencing a lot of fears and this looks to be another fun box office blockbuster. with Chris Pratt at the height of charisma as always. There is absolutely a sub plot here that we haven’t seen much of yet, which is leaving me really intrigued.

What did you make of the final trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom? Let us know in the comments below…

It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.

When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

With all of the wonder, adventure and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful series in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favoritecharacters and dinosaurs—along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before.
